rocky mountain high

so i spent this weekend and most of this week about 10000 feet up in colorado... my first time (and this blogger doesn't have many firsts left, whoaaaa.) mancat's sister lives in denver and had her second woobkin, the first woobkin is now 4 ('and a half!') years old, and mancat's parents flew out and we all stayed in a house in the mountains. being a beach boy through and through, it was a new experience for me, all this 'scenic wildlife fun' and such. (saw a moose!) hoping for a rattlesnake or scorpion or peyone-doing indians, but they're all a few hundred miles south :(

the four year old has a grover plush with which i had much too much fun... 'well hello there! thank you for coming to visit grover in grover's bedroom. did you know that as a super monster i can fly at will? did you know that?' and 'i am fuzzy and blue, can you see that? are you fuzzy and blue too? oh you are not? that is a good thing! boys and girls shouldn't be fuzzy or blue, that isn't good.' and 'this is how grover walks, putting one fuzzy foot in front of the other fuzzy foot.' on the last day grover said good-bye, that he had to go to a 'super-monster's convention at the plaza in new york. [she won't know it's being renovated, har har.] we will discuss such things as 'does ketchup go on everything?' and 'are hotdogs really the perfect food?' and 'what to do when stopped at customs while on a super-monster mission.'

mancat and i put together a 500 piece puzzle. he on a mission, i on a margarita bender.

so jetblue disappointed me, i have to say... you new yorkers and your little tornados, bla bla bla, we were uber, uber delayed leaving denver and, despite fox news saying jfk had no delays (thank you individual seat tvs...), was closed for almost two hours... ran out of fuel, emergency stop in hartford, bla bla bla. the twat in the aisle seat (I WANTED THE AISLE) was sooo pleasant with the 'need to see a man about a horse' requests, he being either dehydrated or really, really weird, i needing to do such, oh, once or twice over the eight hour flight that should have been over three. anyway, kind of felt like jetblue was giving us all a snow-job... 'little stop in hartford to refuel, we should be there an hour if not slightly longer.' try two. 'we should be at jfk in about 37 minutes.' try an hour and 37 minutes. and on and on. me, not having eaten much considering it was supposed to be a three hour tour, so by the time we touched down in jfk, it was after 215a, i was snapping at western tourists and being 'that' new yorker at the baggage claim. didn't get to the air-train until about 245a, and didn't leave jamaica on the e-train (do i have balls or what) until about 330a. FINALLY got home at 430 and up at 7a. i was pleasant yesterday, believe you me. but all in all, it was lovely to spend time in the mountains with the mancat-people and such. perhaps i'll run into grover at the super monster convention?

can't go running at lunch today, as it's an 'even' day and with the renovation of the locker rooms at nysc closest to work, the girls get to use them. doh! maybe i'll go over to chase on park avenue and oogle hottie bankers in suits... yum...

heading to happy hour tonight to ring in 30 with a friend of mine with whom i've lost touch until last year. 30. us. wow. best to ring in at a bar, says i. after, heading to the beaches this weekend. mountains are lovely, but i'm a beach boy. that and the clams and i have some unfinished business from last summer. and the crabs... the crabs need to worry...
